AUTHOR GUIDELINES
General Guideline
BJVAS publishes articles that emphasizes research, development and application within the fields of veterinary and animal sciences that include agriculture, fisheries, biology, medicine, veterinary medicine, livestock, basic sciences, applied sciences and social sciences.
All manuscripts are pre-reviewed by the editorial review committee. Contributions must be original, not previously or simultaneously published elsewhere, and are critically reviewed before they are published.
Papers, which must be written in English, should have sound grammar and proper terminologies.
Manuscript Preparation
Manuscript Preparation The Manuscripts should be written in English, typed on one side of good quality A4 size papers in double space leaving wide margins (left and top 3.5 cm, right and bottom 3.0 cm) preferably in Times New Roman with 12 font size in advance windows version. The manuscripts should be prepared sequentially as Title, Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusions, Acknowledgements (if any) and References. Introduction should be numbered 1 (One) and be continued up to acknowledgements by 5. Sub-titles should be italicized with respective numbers in sentence case. (For example: 2.2. Experimental design and statistical analysis, is a sub-title under the section of 2. Materials and Methods). Table(s) and Figure(s) should be attached in separate sheets, but should be referred sequentially in the text. Numerical results should be presented in the form of either Tables or Figures. Insert page number to the top-right of the page and the first page number should be commenced from the title page.
Title page: This page should bear the title of the article, name of author(s) with address (es). The corresponding author should be highlighted with telephone, fax and email addresses, the title must be informative, brief and specific. Preferably it should not contain more than 15 words. The authors are also suggested to provide a running (short) title of the manuscript to be presented above the name(s) of the author(s).
Abstract: The abstract (preferably within 250 words) should follow immediately after the title in the second page.
Keywords: Appropriate key words (not exceeding seven) consistent with the title should be presented after the abstract.
Illustrations and photographs: Illustrations (with appropriate scales) including diagrams and graphs in the text should be as ‘Figure’. Figures should be numbered sequentially and each figure should be on a separate sheet with the author’s name and short title of the manuscript. Figures must be in black and white, not coloured. The caption of a figure should be given at the foot of the figure on the same sheet. Fonts should be adequately large to ensure readability.
Tables: Tables with appropriate titles should conform to the page size avoiding vertical lines.
Measurements and Equations: For all measurements, SI units must be used. Equations and formula should be presented properly in the text.
Scientific Names: Scientific names should be given for all organisms. Chemical names and trade names should be given for all chemicals used e.g. herbicides, insecticides etc Abbreviations: Standard abbreviations should be used.
Citations and References: Citations should include author(s) and year of publication. Items in the reference list should be referred to in the text by inserting within parentheses, the year of publication after the author’s name. If there are more than two authors, the first author should be cited followed by ‘et al.’. The names of all authors, however, would appear in the reference list. References should be arranged alphabetically according to the first author. In the case of citing more than one paper of the same author(s) in the same year, the papers should be distinguished by suffixing with a small letter, e.g. Biswas (2001a), Biswas (2001b). Full name of database [www address (URL) and the date of access should be provided for a citation from the internet.

Submission of Manuscript
All correspondence should be addressed to the Executive Editor. BJVAS encourages authors to submit their manuscript online using the Email address of the Executive Editor (drecvasu@gmail.com).
As an alternative, two hard copies of the manuscript can be submitted at the first phase. However, the revised manuscript should be submitted online using the Email address of the Executive Editor. Authors lacking internet access can submit hard copies of the manuscript in duplicate along with a labeled CD containing the same electronic version of the manuscript.
A revised manuscript should be submitted along with a response letter to the reviewer’s comments and the original manuscript (in printed or in track change mode form) containing the reviewer’s comments. Currently the authors are discoursed to submit any Word 2007 docx or PDF files.
Publication Charge
The editorial board limits maximum five authors for a manuscript. For each accepted paper – full length or short communication the author(s) has/have to pay TK. 2000. The authors of an overseas manuscript need to pay US$ 35. At the time of manuscript submission, the author needs to pay Tk 500. The remaining payment should be made during submission of the revised manuscript in cash or in check or in DD in favour of the Executive Editor of the journal.
Declaration
The corresponding author must declare the originality of the research activities as well as the manuscript (partial/full) in a clear statement that the article(s) has/have not yet been published or submitted for publication elsewhere. The corresponding author must also declare that all the other authors have read the manuscript and endorsed in written the submission to BJVAS.
Reprint
The corresponding author is entitled to receive 10 copies of reprint of a published article or one volume of the published journal free of charge.
